This program is staffed by two Child Health Nurses and two Community Workers.
One of the most important time periods in child development and learning is the first 5 years of life. The HU5K program supports families with their children 0-5 years.
We do this by:
- Engaging with families in their home environment
- Offering nutritional advice and introducing solids
- Offering 12 Key Ages and Stages development and health checks. This allows parents to see how their children are progressing and empower them to support their development.
- Administering routine childhood immunisations
- Arranging referrals to the speech pathologist, occupational therapists, and paediatricians as required.
- Ensuring regular GP checks
- Providing emotional support to parents through referral to Community Wellness
- Encouraging drop-in clinic visits
- Providing over-the-phone support of families
We also host frequent paediatric outreach clinics.
