Visiting Services

The visiting services program was created so that clients could receive vital healthcare services without having to travel to Darwin. In collaboration with other services, the visiting services team seeks to reduce emergency presentations and deterioration of existing health conditions.



We:

• Manage referrals to be delivered onsite in Maningrida
• Reduce unnecessary travel to Darwin by providing regular case conferencing to discuss clients’ care needs
• Run individual appointments between patients and specialists in Darwin via Telehealth, teams, Health Direct and by phone

The visiting services program makes specialist services available to clients with specific health requirements; we bring specialist services to the patient.

Services provided include:

• Ear, nose and throat specialists
• Gastroenterology
• Geriatrician
• Hearing, audiology, teleotology
• Liver VHB
• Obstetrics and gynaecology
• Oncology and palliative
• Ophthalmology
• Orthopaedics
• Paediatrics
• Physician
• Podiatrist
• Renal – Urologist
• Respiratory
• Rheumatology
• Surgical
• Ultrasound

Clients attend a consultation with a GP, and are referred to the Visiting Services team. They are:

• Prioritised for visits from specialists
• Issued appointment cards
• Supported to attend
• Can have appointments translated for them if needed
