Family and Community Wellness

Community Wellness Services provides wellness support in the areas of Social Emotional Wellbeing, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Youth Diversion and Family Support.


Our team consist of Family & Community Wellness workers, a Youth Diversion Case Management worker, a Youth & Family Therapeutic worker, a Senior Counsellor and a Manager. We are currently growing our team of Family & Community Wellness Workers, representative of the diverse range of local language/family groups in the community.


At Community Wellness Services, we are committed to providing our services in ways that integrate mainstream and Indigenous mental health and wellbeing practices. 


We are currently working alongside community members and local leaders, and collaborating with a range of agencies to develop a more comprehensive, culturally resonant family and community wellness service that privileges the skills, local healing knowledges and expertise of the people of Maningrida and surrounding Homelands to support their kin. 


Our current services include:

  • Social Emotional Wellbeing supports 
  • Individual counselling
  • Youth Diversion – early intervention
  • Youth Diversion – case management
  • Integrated culturally resonant family support services and coordination
  • Assistance for non-Indigenous residents to access tele-health counselling


We also facilitate additional activities, such as:

  • Youth Dance Program
  • Youth Leadership Program
  • Women’s Wellbeing Groups
  • Family Support Service ‘Knowledge Sharing and Planning’ meetings


Support is provided to other programs and stakeholders in the community, including

  • the Múrnun Men’s Space
  • the emerging Women’s Cultural Support Hub
  • Nja-Marléya Cultural Leaders & Justice Group
